Compensation: $40–$60 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
About the Opportunity
We are developing a new early childhood special education program in New York that will provide Special Education Services to young children.
We are looking for an experienced educational professional who can provide the appropriate educational leadership, professional guidance, and administrative expertise as we complete the application process and prepare for implementation.
This is a flexible, limited-hour opportunity that may be particularly appealing to an experienced educational leader who enjoys being involved in new initiatives.
About the Role
The Educational Director will work with the founding team during the application and program-development process and, as the program moves forward, may continue in an ongoing leadership capacity.
The initial role may include:
● Providing professional input on the program application
● Advising on educational and administrative requirements
● Reviewing policies, procedures, and program materials
● Providing guidance regarding special education services and staff
● Advising on supervision and program operations
● Participating in occasional planning meetings
Qualifications
We are seeking an experienced educational professional with:
● A master’s degree or higher in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
● Appropriate New York State administrative/supervisory certification, such as School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS), School Building Leader (SBL), or another applicable NYS credential
● Experience in special education, early childhood education, educational administration, or program supervision
● Familiarity with New York State special education requirements a plus
● Strong professional judgment, communication, and organizational skills
Experience with preschool special education, SEIT, CPSE, NYSED program requirements, or educational program administration is highly desirable.
Spanish/English bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
A Flexible Opportunity
The initial engagement is expected to be up to approximately 10 hours per week, as needed. The actual number of hours will vary depending on the stage of the application and the needs of the program.
This is intended to be a flexible professional opportunity, not a traditional full-time administrative position.
We are particularly interested in someone who enjoys contributing to new initiatives, and would welcome the opportunity to bring their experience to a developing program without a significant initial time commitment.
As the program progresses toward approval and implementation, there may be an opportunity for the role to expand into a more formal and ongoing leadership position, based on mutual interest and the needs of the program.
This is a remote position.
Compensation: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
